| This week I did not meet my goal of not using my phone while driving. On Thursday I had some car trouble and so I had to use my phone while driving to call the dealership to see if I could bring my car in. It was a semi-emergency situation and so I felt like I was warranted in breaking my contract. Interestingly, once I broke my contract for the week, I felt like it didn't matter if I continued to use my phone since I'd already lost my reward. This could be one disadvantage of using a contingency contract. But it's helpful that I get to start all over again at the beginning of this week and that the reward is still available if I succeed again. | |

| This week there were multiple times when I almost reached in to get my phone while driving. I used to call my parents on the way home from work, but I decided to put talking on the phone while driving in the category of the behavior I want to reduce so I could not do that. I'm having a harder time waiting until Sunday to watch my favorite TV show. It used to be something that I did at night to relax, but now I have to find other things to do. It's been helpful to have this goal in mind when I get tempted to use my phone in the car. I've been successful so far, but there's still a long way to go! | |
