Yesterday I had an opportunity in time. I took this as a chance to review something from my book collection (I like to pick a book and occasionally reread it).
I felt that the Teachings of marcus Aurelius would be a good choice.
A few quotes that stood out for me:
“Waste no time in the argument of what a good man should be, be one yourself.” - This can easily apply to ownership of relationships because if you already have the traits of good person you would natural take responsibility for your current environment. Even if the outcome to a situation is not what you desired there would still be an attempt to change it therefore you’re still taking ownership of the situation and the result.
And that is a form of extreme ownership. |

Taking ownership goes pass the idea of “I’m good now and that’s good enough.” It’s a idea that winning and failing begins and ends with me. Knowing that I have control of an outcome is more of sense of relief and puts me in control of my life.
Situations I would find difficult in the past and deemed out of my control I now ask the question: “What can I do to create the outcome that I desire?”
And then sticking to my commitment of producing that outcome. It’s a powerful and humbling at the same time to know I have that amount of ownership in my environment. |

This is a great realization! |
