Definitions of Benjamin Franklin's moral characteristic values: Temperance: refraining from drinking alcohol, or eating and drinking too much. Silence: the act of abstaining from speech. Order: a state in which everything is in its correct or appropriate place. Resolution: a firm decision to do or not to do something. Frugality: the quality of being economical with food or money; thriftiness. Industry: hard work. Sincerity: the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. Justice: the quality of being fair or reasonable. Moderation: the avoidance of excess or extremes, especially in one's behavior or political opinions. Cleanliness: the state or quality of being clean or being kept clean. Tranquility: the quality or state of being tranquil; calm. Chastity: the state or practice of refraining from extramarital, or especially from all, sexual intercourse. Humility: a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness. |

| As a homework assignment, I will try each week to establish and solidify one particular virtue of good character mentioned in his writings, starting with cleanliness. Each week, I will add a different virtue, while maintaining the virtue that was worked on before. This week: CLEANLINESS. | |
