Earlier deadlines for pd urgent wor... Star this Commitment

SerenissimoPrincipe commits to:
Earlier-than-midnight deadlines for daily task work, built around my shifts as follows: Earlies, days off (not Thu): 19.30 // Mids, Thu: 21.30 // Lates: 23.00—This is a bolster goal for my “nudge work” goal: missing these deadlines without good cause means I default on that goal and forfeit my stake—If other obligations arise which interfere with these deadlines, work is to be completed earlier that day wherever possible, but pushing a deadline back to midnight is acceptable, where unavoidable.

So proud of you for seeing such a tiresome task through! You're amazing and should feel good about what you're achieving! Keep this up!
Always your number one fan.

Date: 19.05.18
Target: 25 minutes + 20 minutes (waived yesterday)
Result: Achieved
Total worked today: 1h 30m

Chosen task: Prep latest gas bill
Task status: Completed
Total time this task: 1h 30m

Observations:

Didn’t meet mid-shift deadline, but I feel happy counting today’s target as Achieved, since I still began work before midnight, and then worked double my target to completion of the task at hand, despite a number of mitigating factors (first full shift since my absence; late leaving work; tiredness; and mental health still precarious).

As usual, I found this task gruelling and deeply aversive.

It’s usually complex: because of frequent changeovers in tenancy, it requires spreadsheets, ad hoc tweaking of equations, and lots of sense-checking, to work out exactly who owes what. I’m also always coming to it on a quarterly basis at best, so at least three months rusty.

I have a good spreadsheet set up, but it always takes a while to start making sense of it again and adapting it to the current situation.

However, as usual the process was further complicated because:

– I hadn't captured when flatmates had paid me
– I hadn't captured when I’d paid on their money
– falling behind meant I was even more out of practice than I had to be, details were harder to recall and to find, and I had arrears adding to my confusion.

Actions:

Set up monthly reminder to process electricity bills and review (& process where appr.) gas bills.

(Reviewing gas at the same time each month will enable me both to pick up bills in a far more timely manner and, in the time between bills, maintain a better working knowledge both of the situation and of my management processes.)

Tweak and capture the task plan I made today to serve as a checklist (to reduce resistance in future).

Memorandum:

Must capture payments (in and out) religiously.
