The veto session is currently on in Illinois, but not much news on education bills. Congress is working on tax breaks which I would obviously support having chapters call their legislator to as for bush tax cuts to end for people making over $250,000.

Reached out to Alex regarding constituent involvement. Informed group of issues between Quinn and AFSME. Finals and lame duck session are just around the corner.

No update on legislation. Plan to call Alex about any upcoming any constituency involvement events that should be done.

Updated the election results from the constitutional amendment. Found additional information regarding HB5440, but not enough information to make recommendations to the CDIL board.

Added discussion involving Illinois bill HB5440 to the google doc. It is a short, but very confusing bill. Looking for clarification in the week to come.

I reached out to the Jonathan Earnest for help finding federal bills, but I have not heard back from him. I have to admit that this past week was not as successful as I hoped. I did some research on current bills, but nothing has changed. I tried to expand into areas of women's right and LGBT rights, but came up empty. I did run into an interesting issue happening at SIU. The grad assistants are currently facing wage cuts due to budget issues in the SIU system. I will keep everyone posted on this miscellaneous concern.
I still have not heard from Milton regarding concerns facing the Illinois's amendment on the Nov. 6 ballot. I plan to reach out to him again.

I worked this weekend on finding a more effective way to look up federal bills. I researched more issues facing Illinois college and university students. I still have not posted it on the googledoc, but I plan to once I figure out how to do the federal bills.
I tried finding out more about the constitutional amendment on the upcoming Illinois ballot, but there was no progress there.
