Halfway through my 80/20 Japanese textbook, and feeling much more confident about putting together a reasonable sentence...though, since I've been attending weekly Saturday Japanese class, I've realized it's one thing to write a beautiful sentence and another thing to execute it, in real time with a native speaker. But honestly, I feel no fear speaking Japanese or getting by on what I know so far. Having lived in France and having studied French, I feel as if the humiliation potential has already been capped :P And Japanese people are far more polite and kind about Japanese mistakes. I do make a lot of mistakes here, but internally I collect them to use as fuel for the future. I feel stronger every time I make a mistake and rectify it or get past it, so I can't be too mad at myself when they happen. |
