thorns: back in the midwest, have go back to my working life tomorrow, not fully adjusted to the time change + spring forward.
roses: spent the day on the couch and read a book. collected a bunch of recipes for when i have time to cook again. i can still get away with 8 more hours of not checking my work email.

i've made it through the wilderness. somehow i've made it through-oo-oooh. 2 great programs and 1 mediocre one are finally done!
also my year of travel is looking good. did LA in january. will do san francisco next week. joined a class trip to atlanta in may. headed to philadelhpia for the summer and hopefully portland with you in october.
i also learned from p.f. chang's that eggplant can also be a versatile meat replacement.
finally, a very large tax return has upped my savings account higher than it's ever been.
things are on the up and up!

i must also report than in all honesty, i have ceased marathon training, citing reasons of not having enough time. i have still resolved to complete 2 half marathons this spring...though i won't necessarily train for them.

this week i can more confidently report success because i have secured an adventure by way of an internship at philadelphia university this summer. plus, i finally started spending the weekend hanging out with friends in my program. don't ask me why it's taken me so long to get social. but i feel like i'm finally starting to get close to calling a couple people here my friends.
on the work front i have stayed motivated and am beginning a new recognition initiative with my RAs, meaning i'm turning a staff meeting into a craft night. i'm also getting really good at having tough conversations and not feeling nearly as uncomfortable as the conversation could be.
alas, my schoolwork is quite behind and i have developed too many personal projects and not enough academic projects.
a perfect week eludes me again.

Don't let freak storm get you down! I believe in you (as always). Please let me know about your summer adventures as soon as you know. Always, P&I

alack the day! it's been a week where i have felt perpetually behind on school, work, and adventures. additionally, the recent winter storm has prevented training and caused me to realistically downgrade my race goals to a half rather than full.
the one victory that i can claim is still being a vegetarian, though i worry that some chicken broth found it's way into the rice pilaf i was eating at the student center. also, my not getting out much has allowed me to funnel some money back into savings, which is another sort of success.
i'll find out later this week what sort of adventure i'll be having this summer (!)...

up to 7 internship interviews, and going out to roddle 7 miles this afternoon. a busy week at work has prevented more successes, but overall a good week.
