Well this is getting a little too close for comfort. I haven't been able to raise anyone else about working in the stats field yet. I am going to count my ABS contact when I ring up for detailed feedback on the job. But that still leaves one more for my goal. I haven't found another graduate program yet ether. Have had a little more luck with the career plan as I have been in contact with one of the senior stats lecturers at Swinburne and they have suggested health statistics, so I might hit up the UQ school of population health about working there.
I am also going to hit all the big banks as regards graduate positions and working data with them. Hopefully something will come of it but I am leaving it a little too close for comfort. My uni starts again in 3 weeks, I already have the textbooks to start reading, and I want to get this excel exam out of the way before uni starts too.
Oh the StickK life she is a fickle and demanding mistress....

Also I've pretty much got the graduate programs at the ATO and ABS sorted out, just need to get specific details sorted out before I can tick them off. I may have the QLD Treasury graduate program as one as well, but that will depend on my uni progress.

Hopefully I'll have some more meetings done in the next two weeks....

Contacted Andrew Ward from the Office of Economic and Statistical Research at QLD Treasury. Had a great conversation with him on the phone about working in the OESR and what they look for in candidates. He gave me some good advice on my Dan's stats research project, and about advancing my own skills. Even said he would alert me to the positions that will be coming soon at the dept. 1 meeting down..

This goal explains what my work search hours need to be devoted towards. Obviously it will be considered completed if I find a job, hence I am still going to be looking at job ads. But the majority of my time will be spent achieving the goals set out here. I hope to search smarter for a career, not just harder.
