I did good! An apple is only 80 cals, I ate 1/2. It is hard cutting for Tom and not allowing myself to have any. So I enjoyed some slices with him. I was careful to measure out the nuts. I sprinkled some nuts in my food for flavor. It's all about deliberate intentions than random aimless noshing. Moving away from the situation also helps. we are upstairs in Tom's parents bedroom watching TV. It's really amazing how removing yourself just shifts your attention. No falling asleep downstairs either. I guess both go hand in hand. Overall I enjoyed eating healthy today.

So here I am again. January 1, 2012. New year. Old Habits. They sure die hard. I must remember that they are called habits, and small steps build momentum. My best advice. Take each day one day at a time. My goal is not just to maintain. I sure would like to lose that 1 1/2 pound that still is sticking to me. It cannot be my end goal though because i just haven't been able to maintain that. It's the post dinner noshing that really bothers me. I am a clean eater otherwise. Sundays are not bad. After recovering the weekend, I look forward to a good burn on Monday. No no fruits and 100 extra calories after meals. I believe I fulfilled that with the ham and nuts tonight. Also moving around and staying busy after dinner does help. We alll have to stop eating at some point. Mondays have always been good, but again no more than 100-150 calories later. Tuesday through Thursday is now a graduated plan but I must also pre-plan the snacks to make them exciting so that I am REALLY over it when it is done. I need to take in water every half an hour for at least 1 1/2 hours. (8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 - so four glasses tonight). This is intended to fill me up and with the goodness of water. Tomorrow Tastes Better and is really another day! Fri or Sat is my designated cheat day. I should still limit dinner with one glass of wine. If we are going somewhere else after two total. Pack a 150 nut/snack bag. Bypass the kitchen.

oh one more thing. so proud of myself w gram eliot last night. the food was delish but the portions were so damn tiny, i was HUNGRY when i got home. i remembered my contract, chewed some gum, drank some water, reminded myself, "tomorrow is another day" and went to bed. it felt really good! i can probably get the same feeling of not being stuffed by limiting my bread intake to no more than two and still enjoy light fare without feeling like i'm going to starve at the end of the meal.
