This assignment was very beneficial to me. I say this because when I achieved my goal last week, it made me realize how nice it was to achieve a goal. It has been somewhat of a long time since I sat down and made a goal for myself. I saw a very interesting post online a few days ago stating that our goals are what get in the way of us achieving goals. The post then explained that we make too many goals for ourselves and we get overwhelmed and we end up not achieving any of the goals. I can agree with what that post stated. This is because there has been instances where I plan to do so many things, however I get overwhelmed and end up not doing anything because I spend most of my time trying to figure out which things should be prioritized. With this assignment it was not overwhelming at all. This is because I started off by making one goal and not several. Although I did alter my goal towards the end of the class, I was still able to achieve my goal.
A great lesson I got out of this class was to not overwhelm myself. Another helpful lesson was to not wait to do things until the last minute. It was extremely helpful when you sent out friendly reminders for us to stay on track with our quizzes. This helped me to stay on track and prevented me from falling too far behind. I also realized how important it is to have someone also hold you accountable for your goals. This was important to me because in the past when I had a goal, I would often not tell others. My reasoning for this is because my goals weren’t that important that I felt the need to share them with others. However, sharing your goals with others makes people keep checking in on you to see if you are working towards achieving your goals. I also believe the feedback given after each progress report was very helpful for me. This was helpful to me because it showed me that I was on the right track to achieving my goal. It also helped me realize that it can take several weeks to achieve a goal because sometimes breaking a pattern can be hard.
Overall, I feel more confident in myself knowing that I achieved a goal that was important to me. I am looking forward to the new goals I create. I now know not to overwhelm myself and to limit my procrastination to prevent headaches in the future. I am very happy I took this class.

Progress report # 4

I am thrilled to announce that this week was full of accomplishments. Not only did I complete the new goal, but I also had great success in my first goal. My first goal was to get to bed earlier, so I could wake up and be more productive. This past week I found myself going to bed around 9pm. This was not intentional at all. I gave up on the thought of going to bed earlier since I had so much flexibility in my schedule. By that I am referring to me not having to wake up early to attend class. The reason I believe I went to bed earlier is because of my boyfriend who is also my referee. He recently started a new job that requires him to be there at 8am. Since my referee (boyfriend) went to bed earlier, I think it made me also go to bed earlier. My referee also helped me achieve the goal I created last week. That goal was to be more productive. This past week was one of the most productive weeks I have had in a long time. My referee kept telling me to make sure I am being productive while he was at work. This past week I was able to find an apartment in Montgomery, scout the city of Birmingham, and work on quizzes for this class.
Achieving these goals had a very rewarding feeling. Now that I have achieved these goals, it makes me want to make more goals for myself. I am very eager to see what things I am able to accomplish before the next academic school year rolls around. I am hoping to continue with going to bed earlier and being more productive. However, I know I will not always be able to do that everyday. This is due to the fact that sometimes things out of our control happen. Which is why it is important to not be so hard on ourselves and to always take the time to reflect on how far we have come in making progress towards our goals

Progress Report #3
I did not meet my goal for this week. I believe the most realistic goal for me to achieve at this time would be to limit my procrastination. The reason I believe I will not reach my previous goal is because my motivation to go to bed earlier is not there. For instance, I do not have a set time that I have to wake up for the summer. Additionally, my jobs that I currently have do not require me to clock in. This means that I do work related things when it is convenient for me. This then leads me to my new goal. As stated above, my new goal is to cut down on procrastination. This week I have found myself procrastinating 2 times. The first time was when I waited until the night before to pack all my belongings to move to another state. I also chose to procrastinate when it came to freelancing work I did this week. I had to ask 2 clients if I could push the due date back for work I was doing for them. This is something I do not like to do often. The reason for this is because you never know how a client will react. Some clients get upset especially if they have a deadline of when they want projects done. Also asking clients to extend due dates just add an extra stressor to me. That is another reason I would like to limit my procrastination because procrastination just adds on unnecessary stress.
So far my referee has been helpful. They have helped push me to go to bed earlier a few times this week. Although I was only successful going to bed early twice this week, I still appreciate them making the effort to help me make changes. They have also helped me make realistic goals to help me get things done to where I do not feel overwhelmed. Having a referee is very helpful because knowing someone wants you to achieve a goal can give you the extra push to make sure you achieve that goal.

So far things have not been going as planned. My goal was to get to bed earlier. My primary reason for wanting to achieve this goal is so I can become more productive the following day. However, I have still been productive even when going to bed late. The main reason I was not able to go to bed early this week is because half of my week was spent in another state. In the last 3 weeks I have been back and forth from Illinois to Alabama twice. My time in Alabama has been spent scouting the city of Montgomery and searching for an apartment. At the end of this upcoming week I will officially be a residence of Alabama. The reason for me moving to Alabama is because I will be completing a Master’s degree there. In the midst of me moving, I have been packing and trying to make sure my current place is clean for when I move out. This has been keeping me busy for the majority of each day. Luckily my referee has been helping me pack. Additionally, I try to do some type of gig work each day so I can have money coming in. Usually when I am done with that it is around 7 or 8pm. After that I usually eat dinner and watch Youtube videos and scroll through my phone. By the time that is over, it is usually around 10 or 11pm. Lately, around this time I still do not feel tired. This makes me question whether or not I will be able to complete my goal. However, I do feel as if I can do certain things differently to achieve my goal. For instance, I do not have to do any gig work that day. I can simply focus on packing. Furthermore, I do not have to spend about 2 hours browsing my phone. Instead I could continue cleaning my apartment. As you mentioned, this has only been one week so I should not get hasty. Nevertheless, if by the end of next week I have not made progress towards my goal, I will change it. The reason for this is because I may need to alter my goal to fit my current situation which is being in the process of moving from state to state.
