Heb 12:1-Heb 12:3 NIV Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
I guess the biggest thing I’ve learned this week, is how difficult it is to be honest and real when so much of my life has centered on lying. It was easy to say that I’m tired of lying, but it’s another thing entirely t
ntentionally be transparent when I’m used to being opaque.
Learning to recognize the easy ways that life distracts me from my ‘race’ has been incredibly eye opening. Unless I am focused on God, either through listening to the Bible, or singing along with uplifting music, it is entirely too easy to lose sight of the goal.
I’ve been researching addictions online, and I’ve learned that I should be intentionally looking for triggers that start the cycle of porn use. The best way to quit apparently is to recognize the triggers, and cut them off before I give in. Also, I’ve learned that the human body cannot maintain an emotion for long periods of time, so it is good to identify the urge to view porn, and just ride it out – knowing that it cannot last too long.
Thank you Lord, for your support for me through this!
