People sometimes try to argue with me, why I don't drink.
Since it seems, that their interest is less motivated by
"WHY doesn't he drink?"
but more by
"let's ask him why he doesn't drink, to challenge his statement and motivate him to drink, because, honestly I'm not interested in why he isn't drinking, I'm interested to get him into drinking"
I think people are disrespectful by doing this, because they don't respect my choice, but I can forgive that easily, because they just want to have a fun night - the reasons are good, my reasons are better...at least for me and my state.
I try to not get in this conversations, sometimes I lie and say I'm Muslim, or "I just don't drink today because of sports/ I have to drive, I have work to do/ phone call later, but that doesn't stop people, especially people who know me drinking.
It's okay and all fun but sometimes people reach a point where I want to talk about something else since they can get easily disrespectful to my points.
I don't want to be the all brown banana there, but it is okay to ask your conversation partner to respect your points and ask them if they are okay with changing the topic.
