For the next 2 weeks.... my plan is to meditate an hour a day and work 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. (a bit like Lucia did for the MIR). Since I'm quite motivated around work coz of a deadline in 2 weeks, I don't think I need the fining thing.
So my commitment is to work 10 hours a day and meditate 1 hour a day.
But the only thing I'll get fined for is if I don't do at least 1/2 hour of meditation a day.

Update: I'm on holidays this week in Ireland. Since I'm not able to update the main commitment contract I'm adding an addendum here:
From today Monday September 11th until Tuesday September 19th, my only Stickk commitment is 1/2 hour of meditation per day. This is to give me flexibility while I'm travelling. There's still loads of stuff I'd like to do... the next 8 week course is coming up soon, so would be great to publish google ads, Facebook page, etc. Also would be good to keep going to the gym for physio etc. So I'll do as much as I can... but the only Stickk commitment/fine is for the 1/2 hour of meditation.
On Wednesday September 20th the regular commitment will kick back in. Note: I may want to change it to 1hr sit and remove Spanish, for the next 3 weeks or so, so can focus on publicising the courses and make a push on that. |

Also:. I think I'll teach classes better if I've had enough sleep. If I'm tired that affects my teaching. |

I did this fully in the previous reporting period and Monday and Tuesday of this period. I woke up on Wednesday morning and I was super tired... I said I'll just lie down for a minute, I think that will be ok, and then I fell back asleep for 3 hours. Once Id missed that, then the rest of the commitment kind of fell away.
Lesson learned: I think the fact that I was able to sleep for 3 more hours shows that I genuinely was tired. Ideally I probably would have been more disciplined and stayed up and gone to bed really early the next night... like make a special effort not to use the computer close to bed time, set aside time to wind down etc and go to bed early.
But really the main lesson learned is to get enough sleep. Make a really strong effort to be in bed by 12 and sleep 8 hours. The only exception being if I'm out with friends... and then by 1am at latest, but the norm should be 12 unless there's a specific reason like that otherwise.
Lack of sleep makes it more likely that I'll break a commitment, it reduces my focus and productivity during the day, I'm less energetic, makes it more likely to get distracted and waste time... virya and impulse control are less... I think the quality of my day is better if I've got 8 hours sleep. (Jeff Bezos sleeps 8 hours a night and thinks it helps him do his job better and make better decisions... so it's not that I can't achieve stuff and sleep 8 hours, coz he does it) |
