Magic of Tidying Star this Commitment

Puddlesofdusk commits to:
KonMari the whole house. I will follow the print-outs of the categories to tidy by. I will respect the other rules of the method - envisioning what I want; dressing the role; discarding then organizing. I will also be respectful of Paul and his possessions.

I feel more confident in the morning simply knowing that I have exactly the items I want and need to do my daily routine. Now I'm not looking in my drawer every morning at the items I DON'T use feeling guilty about not using them or needlessly worrying if today is the day I use them. For simple workdays I have my small make-up routine with the things I like. Then I have a separate basket with a few more make-up items for more formal or adventurous events. I wasn't expecting this relief, but having fewer decisions to make and no guilt sitting in my drawer has brought that.

Skincare, Make-up and Hygiene items: Complete
I spent about two hours cleaning out this category. There wasn't much to start with but it's a category that I like having less of than more. I focused on keeping the make-up and facial cleansers that bring me joy and acknowledged the hard workers like my razor. None of my hair items brought me joy which sure surprise me but I hadn't noticed it before. I'm not happy with my hair so why would the items I use on it bring joy? Hopefully once my hair gets longer, I'll feel more comfortable. The bathroom looks good!

Clothes - Complete
Books - Complete: I sorted through my books this morning. Luckily my book collection is very small (the first time I KonMaried my books I experienced such a sense of freedom!) so it didn't take too long. I read through her section on books in her newer book Spark Joy and it really hit home. After discarding books take a look at what you have left. What does it say about your life? Have your books reflect who you are and want to be. After looking at my books I realized that I have a lot of reference books and "improvement" books. While I love having these reference books to help me answer a question or learn something new, I realized that I was missing something. I was missing books that fuel my life energy, books that are there to let life be what it is. Specifically, I heard myself saying "Poetry. I'm missing poetry." So I'll be spending some time adding to my book collection with books that spark passion and imagination.

I sorted through my clothes yesterday, cleaned the closet and started putting things back in. I'll finish organizing today and we'll see if I have time to move on to the next category.
