I feel that way a lot! You've just got to keep pushing through it. And eventually, the initial burst becomes a little longer, and longer, and... so forth.
I would highly recommend starting the next step, just for fun:
Try making a rough outline--SUPER ROUGH--of what you think the book might be. It can be a throw-away outline. But just to get you thinking of the shape, I find it really helpful. |

So what I've been focusing on is vice and scandal in 19th century NYC which is a huge topic (not to mention a great book just came out 2 years ago about the topic -it's literally called the Island of Vice) so annoyingly all I've seemed to do is research. I spent a few hours this weekend researching, of all things, Victorian pornography (which is rather oddly fascinating), but it's just that gap between researching and creating new content that's killing me.
I have my word document where I type anything that comes to mind, but after the initial burst I just sit there watching the blinking cursor until all the negative thought processes come out and beyond a few more meh sentences I'm done. Do you ever feel that way? |

Yeah. Great work on the blog. It turned out really good. This week, why don't you send me the overarching topic of your writing/research? |

While it was for my work blog, I did spend (much) more than 30 minutes a day writing about NYC history. It does go to show me though, that I need to get better at editing because dear god this blog was an absolute nightmare. By yay for practice@! |
