Though I conclude this commitment sadly well short of my goal, it has been an experience of real progress, confirmation that change is possible. With a few fixes, some technical, some mental I leave with valuable information on how to continue to pursue my quest for a fitter me on a still greater scale. Thanks for all of your support! It really meant something.

I certainly arrived well short of my weight goal. Nevertheless, I have had a real experience of progress, confirmation that change is possible.

This is a heavy one, literally and figuratively. I am at the end of this particular commitment, but I am not at my goal. I started much stronger than I finished. I allowed the intervening events of my mom's health crisis and my own loss of my job to steal my focus. Spun a different way, the weight loss simply took a back seat in priority due to outside factors. It was just stress I did not think I could take on at the time. I will take careful stock and give substantial thought to what comes next. I probably need to redouble my efforts. The important thing is that I maintained my honesty, developed more regular habits of weighing in. Perhaps I need to look at a more sustainable diet method. Increasingly, I was tending towards 5 day water fasts, and that may have set my sights incorrectly. Maybe more intermittent fasting would have made more sense throughout. All or Nothing thinking is one of my downfalls. The see-saw of no restrictions / too many restrictions may be a problem. I also got lazy about my political aversion once I started rationalizing that compensating donations to the LIncoln Project as being an acceptable penance ever week of failure; this became too comfortable; I simply thought of it as pay as you go cheating. I was not agonizing or even fretting about the backsliding toward the second half of the commitment. But still I incline on the side of thinking this was not a pointless or counterproductive exercise. Thus, I am going to redouble my efforts, but also restructure them. Stay tuned.

Ok. A few steps, and missteps, back and forth. But now for the final push! It won't be my original war, but hopefully significant progress at least, something to build (lose) from.
