Ok amore, good progress this week, well done! - Very good to stay close to Yazeed and communicate your desire for promotion. By being clear and intentional with your goals, and communicating them openly, you allow others to think of you and propose ways to support you. Use the same strategy with Yazeed as you've done with Kashif : Tell them about your goal and make them your trusted advisor on how to get there. - Very well done for the retirement strategy as a way to make yourself visible across departments. - Ask Yazeed for references within BlackRock that you can talk to / do business with. - Be open with the fact that the middle east team is at a disadvantage when it comes to promotion, and have the top guys push hard for you given your situation. But by being open about that struggle and them recognizing it, it opens the door for them to voice it with other senior members of BLK and maybe do something about it. - Very good for events (leverage the client you've won to get other clients too). - Very good for public speaking course. Showcases a desire to learn + helps you connect with Kashif on a topic you're both interested in (which is learning something new). Bravo Amore ! Keep going :) |

Completed this week - Catch-up with Paddy (COO for Middle East, reports to Yazeed) - Drafted document to implement retirement strategy (multi-department initiative with senior representatives from BlackRock Europe who may be in the promotion committee next year) - Planned call with Yazeed for next week - Planned catch-up with HR business partner for Middle East - Strategized on how to leverage new project wins to gain internal visibility Plan for next week - Catch-up with Mohammed Al Fahim (Head of UAE) - Catch-up with Yazeed. Agenda: o Updates on recent BD wins o Use monthly Global D & MD meeting for presentation on Kuwait and FMA o Retirement strategy implementation o Intro calls to senior mgmt of KSA banks: o I want to pursue a promotion to MD next year. I value your xxx Want to work more closely in future - Attend conference on stablecoins in Abu Dhabi, which relevant to support commercial objectives of Cash Business (another department of BlackRock) - Plan travel in December including stop in Milan to catch-up with BLK Head of Southern Europe - Progress public speaking course / book so I can update Kashif the week after - Draft strategy for FMA Middle East for 2026 that I can present to Kashif the week after, before asking that I present it to the Middle East Steering Committee |

Some of the things you could do by November 2nd. - Get in the habit of sending regular updates on what was worked on. The regularity can be adjusted based on how useful to your goal this is. - Get 1 coffee chat with one of the sponsors you need to have by your side (get in the habit of regular updates + open up about your personal life and interests as a potential way to strengthen the bond) - Meet a new senior person at BlackRock. Get on a call or get coffee with them. The introduction could/should be done through an existing contact within the firm (get into the habit of asking for referrals). - Send a personal message to one of your potential sponsors that has nothing to do with work. For example, ask Kashif for advice on where to buy property, Stefan on music or duathlon, etc. You can also share something new you've tried that they might like. For example, tell Stefan you've done al Qudra 50km and that he should try it given his sportiness next time he's in Dubai. Basicaly, leverage the "Halo Effect" : If you're good at something (whatever it is), people are more likely to assume you're great at everything else. |
