DAY 21:
Had a big workout with Kevin, my PT who comes to the house usually on Fridays. For the Christmas break, he’s coming twice a week for this week and the next. He recommends that I add an exercise for my abductors, as they need strengthening even more than my adductors. So, I’ve decided to alternate between Ball Squeezes for adductors, and Band Push-Outs for my abductors.

He also taught me a crazy hard new exercise for rear deltoids: dumbbell flys.

DAY 17:
I kicked SERIOUS ass at my ASPE workout yesterday. My trainer, Maël, and I had set a goal for me to aim for before the holiday break, and Dec. 16 was my last ASPE workout before the break. It was my last chance. The goal was to walk 5-10 steps with just a cane, no support on the other side.

CONTEXT: When we practiced walking with the cane previously, I would use the cane on my right hold/lean onto Maël's forearm on my right. Two weeks ago, I just decided to try loosening my grip from his arm, then lifting it off his arm as I walked. I took 10-12 steps like that, and we were both excited. I would be able to meet the goal, yay!

But the following week was a not great week, in terms of energy and physical condition. I normally tackle my workouts with gusto, but it just wasn't working last week. I was starting to prepare myself emotionally for the possibility of not being able to meet my goal. (While holding space the possibility that I could and would! This, among others, is my superpower.)

BACK TO YESTERDAY: I walked SIXTY-TWO STEPS with just the cane!!! With Maël not even next to me. He was behind and off to the right of me. I was and remain elated! I am so pleased that I was able to meet this goal, which is, in fact, a milestone on my return to fully independent mobility journey. 🎆 ☺️ 🎉

This was also Day 2/2 Rest Day for rehap exercises.

Squats, Lateral lunges, Russian twists, Moded Deadlifts, Tricep extensions, Lateral raises, plus a Mindful walk (4 laps) while focused on posture. 😊
