VOID CONTRACT NOTICE: With embarrassment, sorrow, and regret, I confess that the past several reports of success have been lies. In all likelihood, so will be the remaining reports of success. On July 1, 2011, I wrote up this and three other commitment contracts (148289, 148291, 148297). In a fit of wild ambition, I chose enormous financial penalties for failure in any of them: $400 per week. I hungered for self-improvement that day, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Telling the truth to this website's machinery would mean running out of money to live. To anyone who believed I was succeeding in these goals, I apologize. I wonder what it says about me, but the only current contract I'm honestly fulfilling is not about self-improvement, but about revenge (140993). At least I'm sticking to something, anyway. |

I took numerous bong hits this morning and afternoon. As Flip Wilson would say, the devil made me do it. Fortunately, the devil's influence allows me to invoke the "social ritual" loophole. My Christianity is infused with enough of the open-source, pagan psychology of James Hillman for me to risk calling the devil a "trusted friend" for purposes of said loophole. Lucifer is arguably destined for return to heaven anyway, unless God is a hypocrite on that "love your enemies" thing. In pragmatic terms, I believe I can thank my daytime cannabis use with facilitating the insights to be gained from one of my other commitments, "Prescribe the symptom of time-consuming fidgets" (#151067), even though it was a rule-bending day for that one, too. |

| RULE CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT: I have decided to allow myself cannabis from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. (if I happen to be awake then). Alcohol privileges, on the other hand, will still be restricted to the three hours between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. StickK's website machinery doesn't formally allow such rule changes, but my conscience is clear. My consistent faithfulness to my contracts assures me I'm not yielding to mere self-indulgence. | |
