Three meals a day... one plate, no snacking... but if the people are serving hor oeuvres, you can have 5 pieces.
One dessert, may be had with the meal, or separately. Yogurt with honey and cereal do not have to be considered desserts, nor do they count as "second helpings." These are lenient rules. One piece of fruit if you're starving in between meals. Other than fruit, if you want to taste some piece of something, twice you are allowed a two-bite taste.
