Run my first road race in over a ye... Star this Commitment
Week 32 of 32

87brad commits to:
I commit to starting a regular running regiment to prepare for The Galloping Gobbler held at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Thanksgiving day this year. It will be my first road race this year since the last race I ran was this exact one the previous year (2012). Due to many reasons: knee problems, graduate school and working full time. This will be a good stepping stone in my quest to run my 7th half marathon.

Well guess what.... I reached my goal thus far: I completed the 2013 Galloping Gobbler on Thanksgiving morning. And I must tell you it was quite miserable seeing that it was only 24 degrees at the start of the race and yes I absolutely hate running in the cold. My finishing time was 41:20 and I am happy of that result because only a year ago I ran a 35:43 in warmer weather plus I had a few more miles under my belt. Stay tuned for my Behavior Contract Part 2.

Uh oh less than a week to go till the race. But I think I can honestly say that I am ready! Although I am not liking the cold and snow as of right now, definitely my least favorite of weather conditions to run in. Not only am I ready to run this race but I'm also ready to see lots of my family members who will also be running this race (it's a family tradition). So bring it on, and I will update you guys next weekend on what my time is. Wish me luck!

Less than 2 weeks till the race.. Uh oh! The semester is starting to wrap up these last 3 weeks so the work is really starting to pour on. I still manage to keep a positive attitude about the race since it is a way for myself to get in better shape and prepare for something in the future. I'm not competing for a certain time or to finish before a certain somebody. Thus just doing this race as a stepping stone and a "fun run" as relieved me of any stress or burdens. I specifically made this to be a fun run because of my incredibly intense schedule and quite frankly because I am out of shape. I have managed to get a few runs in a week as well as working out here and there. My mileage has increased and my time has decreased (which is a good thing in running!). I'm just ready for the race to get here so I can stop writing these reports lol. Although I do believe I have surpassed the requirement of completing 5 posts. Stay tuned for at least two more reports.

Thanks again for tuning in to my weekly progress towards the race. Well my progress has not changed must since last week sad to say. I have managed to sign up for the race since I had to registered for the race yet. Weird thing that I have noticed lately is that my knees seem to be aching hurting more (not extreme pain but kind of a nuisance pain). So hopefully once I do start running again or come race time I the hope is that it does not turn into a extreme race ending pain).
