OK as predicted this is the worst week yet - 13 drinks, though I am not sure some of them really count as full drinks - that's my rationalization anyway. I blame it on the yummy pudding shots we had at the Notre Dame tailgate.
And this brings us to the conclusion of this experiment - Overall observations:
1. It is good practice for me to actually keep up w/ the drinks I have, on an ongoing basis - goal is 7 or less/week - I would really like to get down lower than that, but babysteps -
2. Drink slower & with more water in between
3. If I know I have a social event that week (& we usually do), plan ahead.
4. Don't open a bottle of wine in the evenings just because - make it more selective
5. Hang back & don't always be an instigator for others to have a drink - wait to see if someone else suggests it first
6. You don't always have to have a drink just because others are - ask: Do I really want one, or am I having it just to have it? If you just want something to hold at a party, a glass of water with lime is fine
7. I am glad to find out that in most every case I really didn't crave the drink itself - it was just more of a social situation where it seems "more fun" to have something - I don't really have a problem with this, except we just attend a whole heck of a lot of social events - so it adds up - need to make a conscious effort to pull back a little - working on this.

6 drinks this week - I am happy w/ this. I have to admit, I am super-happy that this experiment is almost over - 1 more week! But I also think it's been a really good exercise for me. This coming week will be a little rough b/c we're going to Notre Dame for the weekend for a football game, tailgating w/ friends, etc....so, I guess it's the same old story - but probably there will be a lot of beer, which I don't particularly like, so that might make it easier than I think to keep things reasonable. I'll just focus on NOT having anything during the workweek since I know we're going to ND this weekend, and then I'll just try to drink slowly &/or alternate w/ water. |
