Flexibility, strength, and balance strengthening are important parts of an exercise program, in addition to cardio. Any of this counts as exercise toward your commitment. Alternating among them, whether from necessity or plan, sounds like a great strategy. I hope you are heading for a second successful period -- what a streak!
