I feel very sad that I ended this contract on an unsuccessful week. The holiday on Monday really threw me off. This was another example to me of how changes in our routine can cause us to be unsuccessful in new behaviors we've learned. In the same way, we need to be cognizant of how vacations, holidays, or moves can make it hard for our clients with autism to be successful. Each week I have made connections and learned new things that can be related to my clients. Although I wish I was able to report my success each week, I have learned essential things even through my failures.

I had another successful week! I'm excited to be able to show success instead of failure. I don't know what the statistic is about how long it takes to make something a habit but I do know the more days in a row that I'm successful, the more reading my Bible feels "normal". It becomes part of my morning routine. I've come to decide that accountability is everything. I could have made a Bible reading contract so many times but without someone else knowing and seeing how I'm doing, I wouldn't have felt as bad failing at it. It makes a difference when people see that we have been successful or been a failure. My husband has been a great encourager throughout this process.

I had another successful week this week. I'm finding more and more value in this assignment because I feel like I'm experiencing some of the same feelings the kiddos experience through it. I'm learning that changing my behavior is HARD. I'm learning that if my MOs are weak I'm likely to fail. I'm learning that when I have a successful week, I want to keep working hard so that I don't mess up my good record. I think this experience has been good for teaching me to be more understanding and also patient with the kiddos I work with. I find value in the people put in place to hold me accountable for what I'm doing but to also encourage me along the way. I'm learning a lot.

I think this is a pretty amazing process you're learning Sarah. Lots of research will show that self management programming is the most difficult to see change with. It's definitely personal when that difficulty happens to each of us. Don't forget that as much as we always want to succeed, look for opportunities to grow from the weeks we don't meet our goal as well. What variables were barriers? What plans should we alter to ensure those barriers are broken? Can you predict potential issues that will make success harder to obtain, and what will you do with that information? Keep it up, you're doing a great job, and always remember to have an "objective eye." Very proud supervisor here, and appreciative I can help in any way I can!
