agbrown commits to:
This behavioral contract is being written to increase the amount of water consumed by Alexandra. She will drink at least 3 (16.9 fl oz) standard disposable water bottles 5 out of 7 days a week. The water must not have anything added to it (flavoring, carbonation, etc.) Can be bottled, from a brita, or tap water. A day is from 12am one day to 12am the next. A week is from Monday ending the following Sunday. A token system will be enforced to track this.

I met my altered goal early this week! Because of this nasty Midwestern weather, my intake of decongestants has increased and thus so has my water intake. So that has helped a lot. Also I wanted to get this assignment done before this weekend, so there is another different type of motivation. So the motivators I originally picked were not that motivating and I have not even cared about them in all honesty. So that is one thing that did not work. I also went for too many days originally. All in all this was a very interesting project and a neat website to self monitor behaviors. I will discuss more in depth about my results in the actual paper.

So this week was a success! I did drink enough water three days out of this week. Although this was my modified version so maybe it needed to be made less. Also, another factor is that I am having horrible sinus/allergy problems right now which then makes me take decongestants. These only work if I drink a lot of water. So it almost seems like negative reinforcement is at play instead of the contract.

I have failed this week again. However, I did meet my goal one day of the week. I think I should have taken baseline data to see how much water I actually drink, and then decide the amount of water to strive for. Thinking I would drink tons of water everyday was a good thought, but it is habit-like and definitely not one of mine (drinking coffee is). For the rest of the project I am going to narrow down the days of the week. So instead of four days a week I am going to do three.
