What I learned from tracking my food

Problems
Fascinating to see all the hidden calories. Things can really add up quicks, especially with butter and oil.
I eat too many carbs and not enough protein and vegetables.
It is incredible how much of a garbage disposal I can be with food in certain situations. A social occasion like a family dinner where there is a big spread of food. A work party. Going out to a restaurant.

Where I need to go:
Eventually trying to eat 3, balanced 600 calorie meals and two 300 calorie snacks would be a good plan. That sounds too specific, but I could work on building from our typical menu of meals and understanding what they have in them.
I need to eat way more whole vegetables and raw foods.
I need to control my dinner portion. This is probably an issue because seconds are always available and able to be mindlessly consumed.
I need to control myself in social situations. Plan A should be not partaking at all. Plan B should be one serving.

Awesome week! I went to the gym 3 times and tracked my food using an app called my MyNetDiary. I wasn't trying to change my food habits at all, only look at the caloric intake of various food habits. Wow is all I can say. A Chipotle burrito bowl can vary from 500-1300 calories for example depending on what you put in it. A few pieces of pizza at a birthday party and a slide of cake is half of the calories I am supposed to eat in a day. Using butter on eggs adds 100 calories. My goal is after two weeks I'll be able to look at what habits I will be most able to change and how to control myself when I'm in a social situation and have tons of junk food I would normally eat mindlessly.
