Week 4 of 4

elima13 commits to:
Praying 2x every day (once in the morning and once in the evening). I want to do this in order to "prime" myself to think in terms of faith throughout my day and to connect my religious life to my personal and professional life. Praying daily, journaling, and reading my Bible everyday have helped me in the past, and I am hoping to make this (or some iteration of it) into a practice I can carry on for years to come.

Over the weekend I found that evening prayers were harder--despite knowing that it's a weakness and thinking about it all day, I find that I can still crawl into bed and fall asleep almost immediately without remembering to do the evening prayers. This practice has not yet become a habit (I didn't expect it to yet) and still requires a concentrated effort to do every day.

I also read my first sections of a spiritual growth text ("Reaching Out" by Henri J.M Nouwen) and of the technical reading ("The Phoenix Project" by Gene Kim, George Spafford, and Kevin Behr). As of right now, I have yet to sit down and do my weekly progress report on my readings.

I have done all the morning prayers so far, and most of the evening prayers (except last night). I keep worrying I'm going to forget to do my prayers, so I think about them a lot in preparation, and it's becoming the first thing I think of in the morning. My attention was focused almost exclusively this week on a finance exam, although I did catch myself regularly going back to my memory verse--I Timothy 6:7-8 on Contentment.
