One such story of Alexander's bravery dates back to his youth: his father had purchased a horse that turned out to be violent and uncontrollable, and he intended to part ways with the horse. Alexander awed his father and nearby company by approaching the horse and using its fear of its own shadow to tame it. Alexander then calmed the horse and managed to ride it. |
