Hello!

The intention of making a new commitment contract after completing my previous one (jog for at least 5 days a week for 3 months) gave me a taste of what can and cannot work. So in this commitment, I intend to do a mix of jogging, Pilates and meditation/stretching at least 4 days a week. I am also making sure to take my vegan protein shake every morning before drinking my black coffee and avoid overeating. The fact that I am enjoying sweating out is a huge indicator that I want to incorporate it as a part of my regular lifestyle; it should not be considered a luxury to spare 30 minutes on your own health. It works like investing in stocks – the more we put in those baby steps, the efforts get compounded over a period of time to give miraculous results.
Another important part of this commitment is to engage with various information on health and nutrition. There is so much information overload that I have decided to stick to the one that makes sense and most importantly makes me feel happy. So Rujuta Diwekar’s book "Eating in the Age of Dieting" touches upon all those crucial points (sleep + stress + food + exercise) the same way it did in "Women and the Weight Loss Tamasha". I am so glad to read this book because it brings forth age-old wisdom about eating well to those who want a holistic approach towards their health and wellbeing.
I have consistently tried exercising for a few months now (I don’t have a weighing scale, screw that equipment) but I love my skin and hair. My body feels lighter and people are noticing the change. I think these are enough indicators for me that I am on the right path. And I still eat my cakes without any guilt.
Exercising has made me change my perspective from ‘being thin’ to ‘becoming fit and strong'. It is more doable in a long term. I actively choose to drop this idea of looking a certain way which I have been toxically feeding myself since I was a child. There is a sense of freedom when you acknowledge what you have at present, be grateful for it, and make decisions on how to better your next steps rather than being disappointed over your past failures. We actively need to fail, break and regenerate. Like muscles. See, what I did there : ) Also, when I started Pilates in January, I was unable to lift weights and complete a routine by Blogilates without feeling like dying. Now, I am surprised how much strength I have gained and the routines feel more effortless.
I will stop my deep talk here, and get back next week and report how am I keeping up with my routine. Adios!
