Create no new Anki cards during the commitment period.
Anki is the healthiest habit I've ever had; but I need to reduce all pressures on my time during the dissertation push. Learning the new cards already queued up is okay.

I made a card today for Bienaymé's identity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bienaym%C3%A9%27s_identity) because it has come up twice now while writing a dissertation chapter. The point is to avoid dissertation distractions, so I'm counting this as acceptable (I promise not to abuse this loophole!). Otherwise going well. Plenty to keep me entertained in the cards I've already created the last few months—but this committment keeps me from wandering off to read about rocks and minerals or quantum physics or other nerd bait when I should be dissertating! |

Closing a loophole: Some of my cards serve as reminders for me to create other cards (ex. foreign language readings; links to Wikipedia articles to study). I will not use this as an excuse to create cards: I will just bury or suspend cards that require creating other cards. |
