Congrats! Sounds like a success! I encourage you to keep going with tracking. Get AT LEAST 4 months and you'll have a more accurate snapshot. Should you create a one-time commitment here to catch up with me about this in April? Like Tax day deadline for you to have completed these classes and to have tracked for 4 months straight? |

How to judge myself now that it is the end of the month:
1. Decided to take classes WITH Carmi (so we both have the info) but that meant delaying the classes.
2. We identified the 3 classes we want to take and have made a schedule (see next goal).
3. I tracked my spending. DAMN we spend a lot. Some is understandable (mortgage, utilities, tuition) but lots of fat to trim. Also identified some charges I wasn't expecting, leading to closing unnecessary accounts.
4. Carmi and I have talked A LOT about finances and really have our priorities straight. This month of tracking was supposed to be "no spending" and I felt like I had my hands tied behind my back at times. We need to tackle impulsive spending as well as bulk/stock up strategy.
5. I solo-reviewed: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/finance/how-to-budget, https://www.additudemag.com/budgeting-tips-for-adhd-brains/, and https://chadd.org/for-adults/managing-money-and-adhd-saving-and-spending/. I discussed tips discussed here with Carmi. This is what led to our decision to take the classes together.
6. Carmi scheduled a free financial consultation through his work (1/12/23 I believe)
Final grade: Successful. However, deferred payout. I gotta take those classes with Carmi if I want to earn the spending money. Also, I'm not ready to stop the spending tracking. I think I have keep it up for a full year. Next goal will be 3 months.
FUTURE MEG: IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK TO REVIEW SPENDING, IT TAKES YOU 1+HOUR. IF YOU DO IT NIGHTLY, IT TAKES 3 MINUTES. YOUR CHOICE MAMA. |
