I have been out of control on my personal spend – it’s been like a tap!
I’m not in the red or anything but it’s coming up to our holiday and I’ve seen a few things I wanted for it and haven’t held back.
I’m due to have my hair cut tomorrow and didn’t budget for it, so I’ll have to use money from another account for that.
I also need to get invoices out to various people.
So, to the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 100% (A)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 60% (B)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 100% (A)
(*This is where I've sent an invoice/asked for payment)
Therefore, I award myself the following Score/Grade: 87% (B) |

This week has seen me be quite frivolous with my personal spend but my thinking was that I haven’t really had a splurge for a while and I really needed to replace some old jeans and shoes – which I have discarded - and I don’t really feel remorse so I won’t fail myself for this because I could have spent A LOT more but deliberately didn’t.
Work is steady and I have invoiced people that I need to so far. I can’t get myself motivated, though, even though I have plenty to do.
So, to the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 100% (A)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 90% (B)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 100% (A)

Therefore, I award myself the following Score/Grade: 97% (A) |

After a very cheeky weekend in Copenhagen, our Fun & Food account has taken a bit of hit but I have managed my personal accounts well – tempting though it was to go mad in Magasin du Nord. I ordered two fabulous tops from Roman which were in the sale, so they were relatively inexpensive, and I have stopped myself purchasing other items that I know I’ll only send back once they arrive. I’m clearly learning to contain myself.
I finally got paid by everyone and now need to invoice for August’ activity and reclaim some large amounts from two clients whose websites I manage and pay hosting subs on their behalf. One should be ok, the other, I’m worried about – I’ll just let Wix switch off their site if they don’t pay.

With so many late payers this month I have found myself building up a resilience I didn’t know I had. For the first time I didn’t feel bad about chasing people who were late. That’s got to be a good sign.
Wix hosts some of my client's websites and I pay for their annual subs and claim the amount back from the clients – it’s just easier that way (sometimes!). One needs to pay me, as I’ve already paid that through my credit card, so I’ll sort the invoice for that. Another – the worst payer in the world – is due to be renewed in October and will owe me nearly £400 for their renewal. So I’ll get the invoice to them in the next week or so – I really don’t want to be chasing her when I’m on my big holiday.
I was getting worried about my biggest client not paying me but, after chasing again this morning it was clear that it was an oversight on their part and the payment has now been made.
I have a big month coming up with Wix and GoDaddy for my website. Although I only pay every 2 years it always feels like a big thing. However, I am ready for it.
All is now back under control. We have a break coming up this weekend, in Copenhagen, and we’ve now booked our October holiday back in Fuerteventura – so I will have to contribute a good chunk of cash to those. Although we do have a significant amount from the band fund – which we’ll use in October.
