I don't really think the eating and the sickness were linked. I was having ongoing health problems (a cold I just couldn't 100% shake) and I got really sick too early to blame it on the eating. When I'm sick my food endeavours don't usually extend past toast so I wouldn't have been eating meat anyway.

For me the meat thing isn't health related (although I do think meat has a lot of health issues associated due to all the drugs they give animals etc) it's more of an ethical thing. I know that I consume way more than my fair share of the planet's resources (and will do regardless of what I eat) and cutting down on meat is one way I could limit this a little. I do love the taste though.

This is not at all a suggestion that other people should do likewise. We all need to find our own path on issues like this.

I'm not continuing a strict 'no meat' thing now February is over. It's too inconvenient. What I'm doing now (and I hope will become a habit) is not eating meat at home. I prepare the vast majority of my food myself (all breakfasts, lunch nearly every day, dinner at least 5 times every week) so if all of those are meat free I will have reduced my meat eating significantly.

This will allow me the flexibility to eat meat if I'm served it at someone elses house. Or to have a proper range of choice when eating out etc.

For me I don't think protein is a problem. Tofu, beans, vegies, eggs, soy milk, all have protein and if I'm eating properly (ie not just being lazy and eating toast all the time) I get more than enough from them.

This was a long answer! Once again I want to stress that I'm not telling other people what to eat. I'm just trying to find a system that works for me both ethically and health wise. I'm going to try this new plan for a while and see how it goes.

Are you going to try to continue this idea in March, or was this an experiment? Do you really think your problems with sickness were caused by the diet, or just by wintertime and bad luck? BTW, I'm a big fan of meat! Protein, give me protein.

No meat eaten but I have been sicker than I've been in years so I'm not so sure how good this is for me.
