Just an update. There isn't an option in the middle to count it as 'void', which would be useful.
Come down with the flu over the last week - fevers, sweating and so on. I haven't seen it as prudent to stick to this getting up time, simply because the benefits of extra rest outweigh the advantages of getting up.
Still feel a bit woozy today but if all goes well I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow. |

First real day of drama today. Was really tired - no sleep till almost 4am and I did my classic 'trick' - somehow turned the alarm off on phone without waking up from sleep. In these cases the actual alarm becomes part of my dream and I exist between a state of awake and asleep. Weird.
I am pretty annoyed with myself but grateful this only amounted to around 15mins so my get up time was still ahead of what it used to be. I won't chalk this up as a failure but I have taken a precaution: have now set an alarm for 6.40am on phone, and now 6.45am on iPad. |

Gotta admit this has been hard.
The problem is actually getting to sleep on time. I haven't been able to adjust my bedtime yet. So I'm hitting the sack around midnight, and taking anywhere between 1h-1.30 to fall asleep, if not more (due to insomnia).
I have managed to rise at 6.45am every day but also most days I have taken a 30 minute nap. I hope to adjust this in future so that I can sleep a little earlier and not nap. |

Second week is down.
No other issues to report. The weekends have been tough as I have not made myself get up at a specific time (although not wanting to lie in too much) and on Saturday I slept for around 9 hours.
Have been still reliant on a few uppers and downers - Red Bull and coffee in the day, sleeping tablets at night.
However the main thing is I am still sticking rigidly to it. On average I think I may be getting 45 minutes extra in the mornings. |
