Receive Flatiron School Certificate... Star this Commitment
Week 15 of 15

joshmrallen commits to:
Find every opportunity daily to work on and complete all the work in each section of the Flatiron curriculum.

I will ask for help -- this is my greatest weakness: waiting too long before asking for help. I will make a hypothesis, test it and change it 3 times. If on the 3rd time, I'm still stuck, I will make a guess as to why and show my code to a coach or a classmate.

I will keep a daily journal of my notes/thoughts/questions to help solidify my understanding of the material.

Hi Josh,
Sorry for late reply as I was ill in the past few days and was not able to do anything other than sleeping. Cancelling the course will be a very bad mistake and You will feel like you have failed somehow and it will stick in you mind, consequently it will reduce your confidence.
I read the book called "Think and Grow Rich " by Napolleon Hill along with the "The science of getting rich" by Wallace Wattles. Here is the purchased link:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0857086251/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note: Every time when I read "Think & Grow Rich", I learned something new and I do what the author is asking me.
Listen to Bob Proctor when You have time:

Take care Josh. I would like to know what you decided to do next.

This wraps up this campaign which covid basically derailed. I've created a new one for a few weeks that fits better with the current situation. Come join me and root for me if you can.

I've been speaking to the Flatiron admin and there's a chance I might go back July 13th as remote or August 3rd as in person. I'm going to check how much refund I can get back if I just want to drop it altogether.

Might just be worth it to start on July 13th as remote and hope for campus opening on August 3rd. If the campus doesn't open (which I don't really think it will thanks to resurging numbers across the country), I'll just continue as remote.

I think I need to take advantage of the counseling benefits the program offers -- though they only offer 3 sessions a year, which doesn't seem like it would be enough.

But, thanks to NYC, I have medicaid now, so perhaps I can get a psychologist for anxiety, etc without paying hundreds of dollars per session and get regular weekly sessions.

Ako, you're right and I'm going to take your advice. I can totally accomodate one line of code per day no matter what. Sometimes, it's difficult to get our my own head.

Stay tuned for today's line of code.

About that book -- what's the title? No need to gift it to me! My wife doesn't know what to get me for father's day and I think she'll agree to this haha

Also, Happy Father's Day Ako! Your support and advice is invaluable. I don't know where I'd be without it. I can tell that you're an awesome Father and Tokyo is so fortunate to have you as his father.

Hi Josh,
Thank You for sharing what you been going through, I wish I can tell you what I been going through for the last past years, that will take alot of writing.
I have been through counselling and I have been in depression/anxiety prescription in the past for nearly 2 years, I managed to come off it. Thanks God. I understand where You well, I am glad you said this".....the point of bettering your career is going outside of your comfort zone and improving yourself....". That is exactly was one of my assignment during counselling. I have been down lately and I am currently picking up again. I have to advice you to keep writing at least one line of code everyday, if you want to understand why, there are many books out there to ready but, on my collection of books I have been reading! there is one book, I read one chapter everyday. I have read the same book, more than 20 times, every time I found something new, I do what the author ask me to do. I am trying to be in control of my subconscious mind.
When I am encouraging you to code even one line of code everyday, even if you don't have time, is because its useful for you subconscious mind training if you want to become on top of your field and very difficult to be replaced in your chosen field.
If you want the book, I will get you one and get it posted as a gift but you have to promise me that you will read it at least 3 times.
Take care Josh.
